Description

AGNI- 408 Electronic Hooter Cum Sounder is an active fire alarm notification device manufactured by Agni Instruments Engineers India Private Limited. It is well engineered to provide immediate audible alerts during fire or emergency conditions within indoor environments.

When activated by a conventional fire alarm control panel through the Notification Appliance Circuit (NAC), the device generates a distinctive signal fire alarm wave Tone. The sound output level of 85-95 dB or more than that at 1 meter ensures effective occupant alerting and supports timely evacuation.

The unit operates on a regulated 24v DC power supply outer enclosure with ABS     (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) high-strength plastic. Its compact design allows easy wall mounting while maintaining durability and consistent performance in controlled indoor conditions.

Designed for system reliability, the hooter cum sounder includes a two way terminal for secure electrical connections. With IP21C protection and Type-A indoor classification, it is suitable for commercial, industrial, and institutional fire alarm installations where dependable audible signaling is essential.

How it Works

How does the Agni Electronic Hooter Cum Sounder Work?

The Electronic Hooter Cum Sounder – ABS Body functions as an audible notification appliance within a conventional fire alarm system. Its primary role is to alert occupants immediately when a fire or emergency condition is detected.

Commonly Used

  • Office Building Fire Alarm
  • Warehouse or Industrial Facility
  • School or Hospital Corridor
  • Commercial Complex

Step-by-Step Electronic Hooter Cum Sounder Working Principle?

01

Fire Detection Occurs

A smoke detector, heat detector, on manual call point connected to the conventional fire alarm control panel detects a fire condition.

02

Control Panel Activates NAC

The fire alarm control panel sends a 24V DC signal through the Notification Application Circuit (NAC) to the hooter/sounder.

03

Sounder Energizes

Upon receiving power, the hooter activates instantly and draws a maximum current of 195 mA.

04

Audible Alarm is Generated

The device emits a fire alarm wave tone with a 0.30 second ON / 0.30 second OFF pattern at a sound pressure level of 85-95 dB @ 1 meter.

05

Occupant Alert & Evacuation

The clear, repetitive alarm sound alerts occupants, guiding them to evacuate the premises safely and promptly.

06

Alarm Reset

Once the fire condition is cleared, the control panel is reset, and the hooter automatically stops sounding.

Guidelines: The NFPA 72., NBC & IS 15908 (2011) and IS 2189 Code of Practice govern the installation (3rd/ 4th Revision), fire alarm Notification device sounders (hooters) must be placed to ensure the 520 Hz signal in audible throughout the protected area, typically placed high on walls or near ceilings, commonly around 2.1m to 2.4m above the floor & sound levels of fire detection systems, with a minimum of 65 dB (A) or 5 dB (A) above ambient noise in occupied areas.

Job to be Done

Primary Job

Immediately alert building occupants with a clear, high-audibility alarm when a fire event is detected, enabling safe and precise evacuation.

Safety Job

Provide a reliable, instantly recognizable audible warning that reduces response time, prevents confusion, and supports safe evacuation during fire emergencies.

Operational Job

Generate a consistent 85-95 dB fire alarm distinctive wave tone when powered by a 24V DC fire alarm control panel through the notification
